     He gained the rank of Midshipman in the Royal Navy.¹

     Captain Walter Greville Bagot Chester was born on 15 March 1887.¹ He was the son of Reverend Algernon Stewart McKenzie Bagot Chester and Emily Mary Dillman Pyne.¹ He died on 28 March 1918 at age 31 at Palestine^G, from wounds received in action.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Gurkha Rifles.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and wounded.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1918.¹

     Fanny Maria Chester was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Charles Montagu Chester and Maria Sandham.¹ She married Lt.-Col. Charles William Selby-Lowndes, son of Reverend Charles William Selby-Lowndes and Laura Ann Broughton, on 19 September 1876.¹ She died on 12 February 1928.¹
     From 19 September 1876, her married name became Selby-Lowndes.¹

     Lt.-Col. Charles William Selby-Lowndes was born on 17 September 1845.² He was the son of Reverend Charles William Selby-Lowndes and Laura Ann Broughton.^1,3 He married Fanny Maria Chester, daughter of Lt.-Col. Charles Montagu Chester and Maria Sandham, on 19 September 1876.¹ He died on 2 November 1921 at age 76.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Argyll Sutherland Highlanders.¹

     Reverend Charles William Selby-Lowndes was born on 10 November 1815.² He was the son of William Selby-Lowndes and Anne Eleanor Isabella Hanmer.² He married Laura Ann Broughton, daughter of Thomas Delves Broughton and Elizabeth Hester Rowlls Legh, on 2 November 1840 at Bletchley, Buckinghamshire, England.³ He died on 22 September 1899 at age 83.²
