     He was a practising Barrister-at- law.¹ He lived at Bargy Castle, Tomhaggard, County Wexford, Ireland.¹ Beauchamp Bagenal Harvey usually went by his middle name of Bagenal.¹ He was a founder and leader of the Society of United Irishmen.¹ In 1798 he was arrested and imprisoned in Wexford on the outbreak of the 1798 Rebellion.¹ He fought in the Battle at New Ross on 5 June 1798.¹ After the defeat at New Ross he fled to Galtee Islands, where he was captured by the loyalist army.¹ He was released by rebels on entering the town.¹ On 6 October 1798 his estates were confiscated under Act of Attainder.¹
