     Lt.-Col. Herbert Watkins Grubb was born on 26 December 1875.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Alexander Grubb and Sara Mary Watkins.2,1 He married Eva Noel Mears, daughter of Captain Arthur Mears, on 22 December 1909.1 He died on 23 August 1934 at age 58.1
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Adjutant between 1903 and 1906 at South Africa in the Second Border Regiment.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of officer in the 50th Division.1 He gained the rank of officer in the 56th Division.1 He was appointed Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.1 He was an instructor between 1919 and 1920 at Staff College, Camberley, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of officer between 1921 and 1922 at Ireland in the Second Border Regiment.1 He was the Second Border Regiment between 1923 and 1925.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the The Border Regiment.1 He retired from the military in 1925, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the |on account of ill-health.1

     Eva Noel Mears was born in 1881.1 She was the daughter of Captain Arthur Mears.2 She married Lt.-Col. Herbert Watkins Grubb, son of Lt.-Col. Alexander Grubb and Sara Mary Watkins, on 22 December 1909.1 She died on 18 June 1971.1
     From 22 December 1909, her married name became Grubb.1

     She graduated from London Hospital, London, with a Dr Barnardo Certificate of Child Care.1 She was registered as a State Registered Nurse (S.R.N.) in 1970.1 She was Assistant Matron of Hordle House School at Milford-on-Sea, Hampshire, England.1 From 18 October 1970, her married name became Allan.1
