He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1829 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Cavan between 1831 and 1855.1 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1834 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He held the office of a Lord of Treasury between 1841 and 1844.1 He was a Joint Secretary of Treasury between 1844 and 1846.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Young, of Bailieborough Castle, County Cavan [U.K., 1821] on 10 March 1848.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1852.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) Sir William Muston Need Young, 3rd Bt. was born posthumously on 20 January 1847.1 He was the son of Thomas Young and Mary J. Duncan Muston.2 He married, firstly, Isabella Leach, daughter of John Leach, on 24 November 1870.1 He married, secondly, Sarah Hallinan, daughter of James Hallinan, on 27 September 1932.1 He died on 31 March 1934 at age 87.1
