     Brig.-Gen. Sir George Benjamin Wolseley was born on 11 July 1839.1 He was the son of Major Garnet Joseph Wolseley and Frances Anne Smith.2 He married Esther Louise Andrews, daughter of William Andrews, on 11 November 1867.1 He died on 10 May 1921 at age 81.1
     He fought in the Indian Mutiny.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)1 He fought in the Afghan War between 1878 and 1879.2 He fought in the Egyptian Expedition in 1882.1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Victoria between 1882 and 1892.1 He fought in the Sudan Campaign between 1884 and 1885.1 He gained the rank of Colonel between 1884 and 1885 in the York and Lancaster Regiment.1 He fought in the Burmese Expedition between 1887 and 1891.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier-Genera between 1889 and 1894 in the Madras Army.1 He gained the rank of Major-General between 1895 and 1898 in the India.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General between 1898 and 1903 in the Madras Forces.1
