Sir Mathew John Anthony Wilson, 6th Bt. was born on 2 October 1935.1 He was the son of Anthony Thomas Wilson and Margaret Holden.2 He married Janet Mary Mowll, daughter of Edward Worsfold Mowll, on 1 December 1962.1 He died on 5 December 2019 at age 84.3
He was educated at Trinity College School, Port Hope, Ontario, Canada.1 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1971.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1972.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Wilson, of Eshton Hall, co. York [U.K., 1874] in 1978.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1979.1 He retired from the military in 1983, with the rank of Brigadier, late of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.1 He was executive director of the Wilderness Leadership Foundation (UK) between 1983 and 1985.1 He wrote the book Taking Terrapin Home: a love affair with a small catamaran, published 1994.1 He was Vice-President of International Wilderness Leadership Foundation in 1995.1 He was President of Dolphin Voyaging Inc in 1995.1
