     Captain Nicholas Jonathan Godfrey Harland was born in 1953.² He married Helena Susan Mary Bethell, daughter of Richard Ker Slingsby Bethell and Anne Rosemary Frost, in 1978.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.¹
