     Douglas Hugh Tollemache was born on 24 June 1898.¹ He was the son of Henry Gilbert Tollemache and Mary Elizabeth Morris.² He married Alys Kynaston Bebbington, daughter of Reverend John Henry Bebbington, on 14 April 1931.¹ He died on 31 March 1941 at age 42, on active service in H.M.S. Bonaventure.¹
     He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Commander (E) in the Royal Navy.¹

     Reverend John Henry Bebbington was Rector at Slinfold, Sussex, England.¹ He held the office of Canon of Chichester.¹

     From 20 April 1963, her married name became Nightingale.
