     Cecil Alexander Strickland was born on 26 April 1913.¹ He was the son of Cecil St. Leger Strickland and Lucy Estess Smithes.² He married Peggy Vyvyan Madeleine Gatley, daughter of John Clement Carpenter Gatley, in October 1958.¹ He died on 2 January 1967 at age 53, without issue.¹
     He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, England.¹ He fought in the Second World War, where he became a POW.¹ He gained the rank of Sergeant in the Pilot Royal Air Force.¹

     John Clement Carpenter Gatley graduated with a Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.)¹ He graduated with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)¹

     Peggy Vyvyan Madeleine Gatley is the daughter of John Clement Carpenter Gatley.² She married Cecil Alexander Strickland, son of Cecil St. Leger Strickland and Lucy Estess Smithes, in October 1958.¹
     From October 1958, her married name became Strickland.

     Cecile Daphne Strickland is the daughter of Cecil St. Leger Strickland and Lucy Estess Smithes.² She married Commander Stuart Erskine Crewe-Read, son of Colonel Randolph Offley Crewe-Read, on 14 April 1939.¹
     From 14 April 1939, her married name became Crewe-Read.

     Colonel Randolph Offley Crewe-Read was born in 1876.² He was the son of Lt.-Col. Offley John Crewe-Read and Elizabeth Steuarta Erskine.¹ He married Mary Helen Bennett, daughter of Charles Bennett.² He died in 1933.²
     He lived at Pennant, Abermule, Montgomeryshire, Wales.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)²

     Commander Stuart Erskine Crewe-Read is the son of Colonel Randolph Offley Crewe-Read.² He married Cecile Daphne Strickland, daughter of Cecil St. Leger Strickland and Lucy Estess Smithes, on 14 April 1939.¹
     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.¹

     Joan Strickland was the daughter of Cecil St. Leger Strickland and Lucy Estess Smithes.² She married Major George Vilett Rolleston, son of Major George Reginald Aubrey Rolleston, on 28 September 1933.¹ She died in 1994.¹
     From 28 September 1933, her married name became Rolleston.
