     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)1

     Colonel David Brown Douglas Stewart was born on 3 August 1862 at Old Machar, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.2 He was born in 1862.3 He was the son of Sir David Stewart and Margaret Dyce Brown.2 He married Isabella Brown, daughter of A. Brown, in 1899.3 He died on 14 March 1935 at age 72 at Banchory House, Banchory-Devenick, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.2
     He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.D.)1 He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)3 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 4th Gordon Highlanders.3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kincardineshire.3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the City of Aberdeen.3
