Patrick Taldo Pirie was born on 17 March 1897.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Duncan Vernon Pirie and Hon. Evelyn Courtenay Forbes-Sempill.2 He married Christine Barbara de Lacepede, daughter of Charles Edward Cahill, on 25 November 1938.1 He died on 29 April 1965 at age 68, without issue.1
He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.2 He gained the rank of officer in 1915 in the Gordon Highlanders.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1918.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.2 He retired from the military in 1947, with the rank of Colonel, late of the Gordon Highlanders.1
