Charles Michell Aloysius Wood was born on 2 April 1873.1 He was the son of Field Marshal Sir Henry Evelyn Wood, V.C. and Hon. Mary Paulina Anne Southwell.2 He married Olive Mary de Bathe Miles, daughter of Major Philip William Herbert Miles, on 19 June 1915.1 He died on 4 April 1936 at age 63.1
He fought in the Nile Expedition in 1898, he was mentioned in despatches.1 He served in the Crete dispute in 1898.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900, he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Order of the Medjidie Fourth Class.1 He fought in the First World War, he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel.1 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.1 He was appointed Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.1 He gained the rank of officer before 1927 in the Colonel Northumberland Fusiliers.1
