     Maj.-Gen. Sir Julian Alvery Gascoigne was born on 25 October 1903.3,2 He was the son of Brig.-Gen. Sir Ernest Frederick Orby Gascoigne and Laura Cicely Clive.4,5 He married Joyce Alfreda Newman, daughter of Robert Lydston Newman and Alfreda Ernestine Albertha Bowen, on 26 November 1928.1 He died on 26 February 1990 at age 86 at Newton Abbot, Devon, England.3,2
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.)1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.3 He was commissioned in 1923 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, in the service of the Grenadier Guards.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.)1 He fought in the Second World War, in North Africa and Italy.3 He retired from the military, with the rank of Major-General, late of the Grenadier Guards.1 He held the office of Governor of Bermuda between 1959 and 1964.1,3

     Mabel Blake is the daughter of Frederick Blake.2 She married, firstly, Ralph Denne Newman, son of Thomas Holdsworth Newman and Elizabeth Laura Smith, in December 1894 at Oporto, Portugal.1 She married, secondly, C. R. Johnson on 24 August 1898.1
     From December 1894, her married name became Newman. From 24 August 1898, her married name became Johnson.1
