     James Whitefoord was born on 13 September 1775 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.² He was the son of Major Sir John Whitefoord, 3rd Bt. and Anne Cartwright.¹ He died on 30 August 1795 at age 19.¹

     Bryce Whitefoord was the son of James Whitefoord of Dunduff and Isabel Blair.¹ He married Elizabeth Cunynghame, daughter of Sir David Cunynghame of Milncraig, 1st Bt..¹ He died in January 1726.¹
