Henry Edward Duke, 1st Baron Merrivale was born on 5 November 1855.1 He was the son of William Edward Duke and Elizabeth Ann Lord.2 He married Sarah Shorland, daughter of John Shorland, in 1876.1 He died on 20 May 1939 at age 83.1
He was admitted to Gray's Inn entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He held the office of Recorder of Plymouth between 1897 and 1900.1 He held the office of Recorder of Devonport between 1897 and 1914.1 He was appointed Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1899.1 He held the office of Bencher of Gray's Inn in 1899.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) Edward Duke, 2nd Baron Merrivale was born on 22 May 1883.1 He was the son of Henry Edward Duke, 1st Baron Merrivale and Sarah Shorland.2 He married, firstly, Odette Roger, daughter of Edmond Roger, in 1912.1 He and Odette Roger were divorced in 1939.1 He married, secondly, Meta Therese Amelia Wolczon, daughter of Joseph Herman Wolczon, on 5 April 1939.1 He died on 8 June 1951 at age 68.1
