Roderick Macneil, 19th of Barra was born in 1693.1 He was the son of Roderick 'Dhu' Macneil, 18th of Barra and Isabella MacLeod.2 He married Alice Macleod, daughter of William Macleod, 1st of Luskentyre and Margaret Mackenzie.1 He died on 7 May 1763.1
Roderick Macneil, 19th of Barra also went by the nick-name of ‘The Dove of the West'.2 He was the last Catholic chief in the old line.1 He fought in the Jacobite Uprising in 1715.1 He was forced to flee to France, but returned on his father's death.2 Between June 1746 and July 1747 as a supporter of Bonnies Prince Charlie, he was imprisoned after Culloden but remained a faithful Jacobite.1
