Sir Charles John Markham, 3rd Bt. was born on 2 July 1924.2 He was the son of Sir Charles Markham, 2nd Bt. and Gwladys Helen Beckett.2 He married Valerie Barry-Johnston, daughter of Lt.-Col. Evelyn Barry-Johnston, on 27 August 1949.2 He died on 5 June 2006 at age 81.3
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant between 1943 and 1947 in the 11th Hussars.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Markham, of Beachborough Park, Newington, Kent [U.K., 1911] on 7 September 1952.1 He was vice-chairman of the Narobi County Council between 1953 and 1955.2 He held the office of Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C.)
