James Lockhart, 10th of the Lee1

     James Lockhart, 10th of the Lee was born circa 1596.1 He was the son of Sir James Lockhart, 9th of the Lee and Isabel Weir.2 He married, firstly, Helen Fairly, daughter of Alexander Fairly of Braid.1 He married, secondly, Martha Douglas, daughter of George Douglas of Mordington. He died in 1674.1
     On 8 September 1599 he had a charter in minority of the Barony of the Lee, and when of age 29 June 1619.1 He was appointed Knight before 1623.1 He was styled as Lord Lee [Scottish Law Lord] in 1646.1 He held the office of Lord of Session in 1646.1 In 1649 he was deprived under Cromwell.1 In 1651 he was imprisoned.1 In 1662 he was restored by King Charles II.1 He held the office of Lord Justice Clerk in 1671.1
