Rosamond Best was the daughter of Reverend Francis Best.1 She married Lt.-Col. George Hotham, son of General George Hotham and Diana Pennyman, on 29 June 1813.2 She died on 5 September 1826.1

John Hotham was born on 29 January 1805.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. George Hotham and Caroline Gee.1 He married, firstly, Maria Elizabeth Thompson, daughter of Henry Thompson, on 9 April 1842.1 He married, secondly, Mary Anne Roundell, daughter of Reverend Danson Richardson Roundell and Hannah Foulis, on 11 January 1855.1 He died on 11 February 1881 at age 76.1
He was educated at Addiscombe Military College, Addiscombe, London, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Bengal Horse Artillery.1
