     Major John Pickard Becher was born on 20 July 1880 at Southwell, Nottinghamshire, EnglandG.2,3 He was the son of John Henry Becher and Alice Mary Pickard-Cambridge.2 He married Gertrude Veronica Gale, daughter of Henry Mark Gale and Hon. Mary Strutt, on 20 April 1911 at Southwell, Nottinghamshire, EnglandG.2,3 He died on 1 January 1916 at age 35 at FranceG, from wounds received in action.2
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July 1907 in the Sherwood Foresters, Territorial Forces.3 He gained the rank of Captain on 9 May 1910.3 He gained the rank of Major in the 8th Sherwood Foresters, Territorial Forces.3 He was appointed Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1915.2 He fought in the First World War.2 He lived at Hill House, Southwell, Nottinghamshire, EnglandG.2
