Edward Mauger Iliffe, 1st Baron Iliffe was born on 17 May 1877.1 He was the son of William Isaac Iliffe and Annette Coker.2 He married Charlotte Gilding, daughter of Henry Gilding, on 10 June 1902.1 He died on 25 July 1960 at age 83.1
He was Comptroller of Machine Tool Department, Ministry of Munitions.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1918.1 He was awarded the Officier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1922.3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Warwickshire.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Tamworth between 1923 and 1929.1 He was president of Birmingham Post and Mail Ltd.1 He was created 1st Baron Iliffe, of Yattendon, co. Berks [U.K.] on 22 June 1933.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1946.1
