Thomas Preston, 3rd Viscount Taragh was born circa 1653.1 He was the son of Anthony Preston, 2nd Viscount Taragh and Margaret Warren.1 He died on 6 July 1674, almost certainly murdered by Sir Francis Blundel, Bt, of King's County and his brothers William and Winwood, none of whom where found guilty at their trial.1
He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Taragh, co. Meath [I., 1650] on 24 April 1659.1 He was educated at Scots College, Douai, FranceG.1 On his death, his title became extinct.1
