     Sir Francis Workman-Macnaghten, 1st Bt. was born on 2 August 1763.2 He was the son of Edmund Macnaghten and Hannah Johnstone.3 He married Letitia Dunkin, daughter of Sir William Dunkin and Eliza Blacker, on 6 December 1787.2 He died on 22 November 1843 at age 80.2
     He was given the name of Francis Macnaghten at birth.2 He was a practising barrister.2 He was appointed Knight in 1809.2 He held the office of Judge of the Supreme Court [Madras] between 1809 and 1815.2 On 18 November 1809 his name was legally changed to Francis Workman-Macnaghten by Royal Licence.3 He held the office of Judge of the Supreme Court [Calcutta] between 1815 and 1825.2 He held the position of Chief of the Clan Macnaghten from in 1832.2 He was created 1st Baronet Macnaghten, of Dundarave, co. Antrim [U.K.] on 16 July 1836.4 He lived at Dundarave, County Antrim, Ireland.2

     Letitia Dunkin was born in 1769 at Dundarave, County Antrim, Ireland.1,2 She was the daughter of Sir William Dunkin and Eliza Blacker.3 She married Sir Francis Workman-Macnaghten, 1st Bt., son of Edmund Macnaghten and Hannah Johnstone, on 6 December 1787.4 She died on 13 November 1852 at 2 Portman Square, Marylebone, London, England.1,2
     From 6 December 1787, her married name became Macnaghten.1 She was also known as Workman-Macnaghten as of 18 November 1809.4
