     From 1748, her married name became Macdowall.

     William Macdowall, 19th of Garthland and 3rd of Castlesemple was born on 17 November 1749.¹ He was the son of William Macdowall, 18th of Garthland and 2nd of Castlesemple and Elizabeth 'Black Bess' Graham.² He died on 2 May 1810 at age 60, unmarried.¹
     He was a practising Advocate.² On 13 November 1776 he had sasine of the barony of Garthland.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Dunbarton District of Burghs between 1790 and 1802.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Renfrewshire between 1793 and 1810.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Renfrewshire between 1802 and 1810.¹

     James Macdowall was born on 20 January 1752.¹ He was the son of William Macdowall, 18th of Garthland and 2nd of Castlesemple and Elizabeth 'Black Bess' Graham.² He married, firstly, Isabella Peters, daughter of Thomas Peters, in 1769.¹ He married, secondly, Margaret Jamieson, daughter of Neil Jamieson, in 1782.¹ He died on 30 May 1808 at age 56 at St. Lucia^G.¹
     He was a West India merchant at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland^G.¹ He held the office of Baillie of Glasgow in 1786.² He held the office of Baillie of Glasgow in 1789.² He held the office of Provost of Glasgow between 1790 and 1797.² He was auditor of excise and import duties in Scotland between 1800 and 1808.²

     Isabella Peters was the daughter of Thomas Peters.² She married James Macdowall, son of William Macdowall, 18th of Garthland and 2nd of Castlesemple and Elizabeth 'Black Bess' Graham, in 1769.¹ She died on 28 December 1778.¹
     From 1769, her married name became Macdowall.

     William Macdowall, 20th of Garthland was born in 1770.¹ He was the son of James Macdowall and Isabella Peters.² He died on 27 April 1840, unmarried.¹
     He was a member of the Merchants House, Glasgow, as a 'Foreign Trader' in 1791.¹ He was Comptroller of Customs at Greenock.² He was he completed the disposal of the caput baroniae in Wigtownshire begun by his uncle 1807 between several purchasers, when the estates of Barr and Garpel in Renfrewshire became the substitute barony of Garthland and Garthland house was built in 1811.²

     Thomas Macdowall is the son of James Macdowall and Isabella Peters.²
