     Ernest Pellew Orr Ewing was born on 29 January 1882.¹ He was the son of Sir Archibald Ernest Orr Ewing of Ballikinrain, 3rd Bt. and Hon. Mabel Addington.² He died on 15 September 1916 at age 34, killed in action.²
     He gained the rank of Temporary Captain in the Scots Guards.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹

     Mabel Ursula Orr Ewing was born on 19 April 1887.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Archibald Ernest Orr Ewing of Ballikinrain, 3rd Bt. and Hon. Mabel Addington.² She married, firstly, Brig.-Gen. Gerald Carew Sladen, son of Colonel Sir Edward Bose Sladen, on 24 July 1913.¹ She married, secondly, Ferdinand Sladen in 1933.²
     From 24 July 1913, her married name became Sladen.

     Colonel Sir Edward Bose Sladen gained the rank of Colonel in the Madras Staff Corps.¹

     Brig.-Gen. Gerald Carew Sladen was the son of Colonel Sir Edward Bose Sladen.² He married Mabel Ursula Orr Ewing, daughter of Sir Archibald Ernest Orr Ewing of Ballikinrain, 3rd Bt. and Hon. Mabel Addington, on 24 July 1913.¹ He died on 21 April 1930.¹
     He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹ He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the Rifle Brigade.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)¹
