Colonel Charles Edward Stewart was born on 23 February 1836.2 He was the son of Algernon Stewart and Charlotte Clement.2 He married Annie Nairn Anstruther, daughter of Philip Anstruther and Mary Frances Stewart-Mackenzie, on 23 January 1869.1 He died on 26 December 1904 at age 68.1
