     Brigadier John Michael Hanmer was born on 29 September 1907.¹ He was the son of Reverend Hugh Hanmer and Margaret Maude Ethelston.² He married Esther Black, daughter of Reginald Adam Black, on 29 September 1934.¹ He died on 17 June 1977 at age 69.¹
     He was educated at Shrewsbury School, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He was awarded the Chevalier, Crown of Belgium with palm.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1945.¹ He gained the rank of Brigadier in the Durham Light Infantry.¹ He was awarded the Belgian Croix de Guerre with palm.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1952.¹

     Reginald Adam Black held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Shropshire.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Shropshire.¹ He lived at Prees Hall, Whitchurch, Hampshire, England^G.¹

     Esther Black was the daughter of Reginald Adam Black.² She married Brigadier John Michael Hanmer, son of Reverend Hugh Hanmer and Margaret Maude Ethelston, on 29 September 1934.¹ She died on 23 April 1995.¹
     From 29 September 1934, her married name became Hanmer.

     Michael David Adam Hanmer was born on 30 May 1935.¹ He was the son of Brigadier John Michael Hanmer and Esther Black.² He married Judy Carol Fairchild, daughter of Cecil Jack Fairchild, on 4 January 1964.¹ He died on 19 January 2004 at age 68.¹
     He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Durham Light Infantry.¹ He graduated from Clare College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹
