     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England^G.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1917.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 122nd (West Riding) Field Regiment, Malaya Command Reserve.¹ He fought in the Second World War, where be was captured by the Japanese and became a POW.¹

     Elizabeth Mary Grenfell was born on 10 May 1908.¹ She is the daughter of Brig.-Gen. Harold Maxwell Grenfell and Lady Muriel Frances Mary Parsons.² She married, firstly, Philip Tyson-Woodcock, son of Reverend Edward Tyson-Woodcock, on 12 March 1929.¹ She and Philip Tyson-Woodcock were divorced in 1938.¹ She married, secondly, John Davies, son of E. E. Davies, on 27 September 1938.¹

     Philip Tyson-Woodcock is the son of Reverend Edward Tyson-Woodcock.² He married Elizabeth Mary Grenfell, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Harold Maxwell Grenfell and Lady Muriel Frances Mary Parsons, on 12 March 1929.¹ He and Elizabeth Mary Grenfell were divorced in 1938.¹
