Barbara Lauder was the daughter of Sir William Lauder of Haltoun and Jean Cockburn.3,2 She married John Cunningham of Cunninghamhead.2 She married Sir James Foulis of Colinton, son of James Foulis of Colinton and Agnes Heriot, before 10 February 1590.1,2 She died between 1 August 1601 and November 1604.2

James Foulis, Lord Retford was the son of James Foulis, Lord Colinton and Barbara Ainslie.2 He married Margaret Boyd, daughter of John Boyd, on 4 September 1670.1 He died in 1711.1
He held the office of a Lord of Session in 1674.1 He gained the title of Lord Retford [Scottish Law Lord] in 1684.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Edinburgh [Scotland] between 1686 and 1693.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Foulis, of Colinton [N.S., 1634] on 19 January 1688.1 He opposed the union of the English and Scottish parliaments.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1702.1
