Archibald Williamson, 1st Baron Forres was born on 13 September 1860.1 He was the son of Stephen Williamson and Annie Guthrie.2 He married, firstly, Caroline Maria Hayne, daughter of James Charles Hayne, on 7 June 1887.1 He married, secondly, Hon. Agnes Freda Herschell, daughter of Farrar Herschell, 1st Baron Herschell of the City of Durban and Agnes Adela Porcher, on 27 November 1912.2 He died on 29 October 1931 at age 71.2
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Elgin and Nairn between 1906 and 1918.1 He was chairman of Central Argentine Railway and Lobitos Oilfields.1 He was partner of Balfour, Williamson & Company, merchants.1 He succeeded as the 1st Baronet Williamson, of Glenogil, co. Forfar [U.K.] on 29 July 1909.1 He held the office of Finance Secretary, War Office.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1918.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
