Captain James Farquharson was the son of Admiral Sir John Lockhart-Ross, 6th Bt.1 He married Catherine Farquharson of Invercauld, daughter of James Farquharson of Invercauld and Amelia Murray, on 16 June 1799.1 He died on 5 February 1809.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 His name was legally changed to James Farquharson.1 He was given the name of James Ross at birth.1

Catherine Farquharson of Invercauld was born on 4 May 1774.1 She was the daughter of James Farquharson of Invercauld and Amelia Murray.2 She married Captain James Farquharson, son of Admiral Sir John Lockhart-Ross, 6th Bt., on 16 June 1799.1 She died on 27 February 1845 at age 70.1

Sir Francis Grant was born on 18 January 1803 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He was the son of Francis Grant and Anne Oliphant.2 He married, firstly, Amelia Farquharson, daughter of Captain James Farquharson and Catherine Farquharson of Invercauld, on 19 April 1826.1 He married, secondly, Jane Isabella Elizabeth Norman, daughter of Richard Norman and Lady Elizabeth Isabella Manners, in 1829.2 He died on 5 October 1878 at age 75 at The Lodge, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, England.2
