     Robina Fairbairn was born in 1834.2 She was the daughter of Sir Peter Fairbairn and Margaret Kennedy.3 She married Frederick Wordsworth Haydon in December 1868.1 She died on 9 January 1873.1
     From December 1868, her married name became Haydon.

Sir Peter Fairbairn1

     Sir Peter Fairbairn was born on 11 September 1799.1 He was the son of Andrew Fairbairn and Margaret Henderson.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Kennedy, daughter of Robert Kennedy.1 He married, secondly, Rachel Anne Brandling, daughter of Robert William Brandling.1 He died on 4 January 1861 at age 61.1
     He was an engineer and inventor, especially of machines for spinning silk waste and rope yarn.1 He held the office of Mayor of Leeds between 1857 and 1859.1 He was appointed Knight in 1858 on the occasion of HM Queen Victoria's visit.1

     Rachel Anne Brandling was the daughter of Robert William Brandling.2 She married, secondly, Sir Peter Fairbairn, son of Andrew Fairbairn and Margaret Henderson.1 She married, firstly, Captain Charles Bell.1 She died on 25 June 1886.1
     Her married name became Bell.1 Her married name became Fairbairn.

Sir William Fairbairn, 1st Bt.1

     Sir William Fairbairn, 1st Bt. was born on 19 February 1789.1 He was the son of Andrew Fairbairn and Margaret Henderson.2 He married Dorothy Mar, daughter of John Mar, on 16 June 1816.1 He died on 18 August 1874 at age 85.1
     He was an apprentice in a colliery in 1803 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, EnglandG.1 After 1811 he manufactured sausage-machines, nail-machines and cotton-mill machinery and built bridges.1 He was a millwright between March 1811 and December 1811.1 He was a partner in Fairbairn & Lillie between 1817 and 1835.1 Circa 1830 he pioneered the construction of iron canal boats, riveting machines and devices to prevent boilers from exploding.1 He was registered as a Member, Institution of Civil Engineers (M.I.C.E.) in 1830.1 He was friend of George Stephenson, who consulted him when designing the Menai Bridge between Anglesey and the Wesh mainland.1 He was a judge for London Exhibitions of 1851 and 1862.1 He was a judge for the Paris Exhibition in 1855.1 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur in 1855.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, in 1860.1 He was awarded the Royal Society gold medal in 1860.1 He held the office of President of the British Academy in 1861.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1862.1 He was created 1st Baronet Fairbairn, of Ardwick, Lancashire [U.K.] on 20 November 1869.1 He lived at The Polygon, Ardwick, Manchester, Lancashire, EnglandG.1

     Dorothy Mar was born circa 1789.1 She was the daughter of John Mar.2 She married Sir William Fairbairn, 1st Bt., son of Andrew Fairbairn and Margaret Henderson, on 16 June 1816.1 She died on 11 January 1882.1
     From 16 June 1816, her married name became Fairbairn.

Sir Thomas Fairbairn, 2nd Bt.1

     Sir Thomas Fairbairn, 2nd Bt. was born on 18 January 1823.2 He was the son of Sir William Fairbairn, 1st Bt. and Dorothy Mar.2 He married Allison Callaway, daughter of Thomas Callaway, on 23 March 1848.2 He died on 12 August 1891 at age 68.2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Fairbairn, of Ardwick, Lancashire [U.K., 1869] on 18 August 1874.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)2
