     Sir William Eliott of Stobs, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Gilbert Eliott of Stobs, 1st Bt. and Isabella Cranstoun.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Scott, daughter of Sir John Scott of Ancrum.2 He married, secondly, Margaret Murray, daughter of Charles Murray of Hadden, on 3 February 1680.1 He died on 19 February 1699.2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Eliott, of Stobs [N.S., 1666] in September 1677.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Roxburgh between 1689 and 1693.2

     Magdalen Nicholson is the daughter of Sir John Nicholson of Lasswade.2 A contract for the marriage of Magdalen Nicholson and Sir Gilbert Eliott of Stobs, 1st Bt. was signed on 19 April 1661.1
     From 19 April 1661, her married name became Eliott.1

     William Eliott was the son of Sir Gilbert Eliott of Stobs, 1st Bt. and Magdalen Nicholson.2 He died before 28 March 1770.1
     In 1691 he was apprenticed to Patrick Johnston, merchant.1 On 3 July 1694 served heir to his sister Janet.1
