     He was educated at Geelong Grammer School, Geelong, Victoria, Australia^G.¹ He was educated at St. Edward's School, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Army Service Corps.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹
