     Lady Susan Elizabeth Clementine Hay usually went by her middle name of Clementine.1 Her married name became Waring. She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1918.1 She was awarded the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium Medal.1

     Major Walter Waring was the son of Charles Waring and Charlotte Eliza Mary Jane Denys.1 He married Lady Susan Elizabeth Clementine Hay, daughter of William Montagu Hay, 10th Marquess of Tweeddale and Candida Louise Bartolucci, on 4 November 1901.1 He died on 16 November 1930.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 1st Life Guards.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1 He lived at Lennel, Coldstream, Berwickshire, ScotlandG.2 He gained the rank of Major in the 1st Life Guards.2

     He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Leicestershire Yeomanry.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for South Norfolk from November 1922 to November 1923.1 He gained the rank of Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1
