Brigadier Alexander Purdon Campbell was born on 11 October 1909.1 He was the son of Captain Alexander Campbell and Ellinore Mary Louise Purdon.2 He married Baroness Alexandra Marie Ghislaine Fernande de Villefague de Vogelsank Brown, daughter of Major Thomas Brown, on 13 November 1939.1 He died in March 1997 at age 87 at Brighton, Sussex, England.3
He was educated at Tonbridge School, Tonbridge, Kent, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1929, in the service of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.1 He gained the rank of officer in 1935 in the Royal Army Service Corps.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1945.1 He fought in the Malayan Emergency between 1948 and 1951, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He retired from the military in 1961, with the rank of Brigadier.1 He was Honorary Colonel of the Territorial Army between 1961 and 1965.1 He lived in 1976 at Oak Cottage, Beyton, Suffolk, EnglandG.1
