     Henry Leatham Burdett was born on 3 December 1887.¹ He was the son of John Head Burdett and Adelaide Victoria Stanley Leatham.² He married Clara Gladys Champion, daughter of Reverend Arthur Champion, on 29 July 1920.¹ He died on 25 July 1963 at age 75.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the British Army.¹ He was registered as a Associate Member, Institution of Civil Engineers (A.M.I.C.E.)¹ He fought in the First World War, in Royal Artillery.¹ He was a civil engineer in Basutoland and Tanganyika between 1928 and 1936.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1937.¹ He fought in the Second World War, in Royal Engineers.¹
