     Alexander John Dashwood was born on 28 March 1830.¹ He was the son of Colonel Alexander Wilton Dashwood and Marian Still.² He married Emma Blanche Garrett, daughter of Captain J. B. Garrett, on 13 July 1854.¹ He died on 9 July 1857 at age 27.¹
     He gained the rank of officer in the 48th Bengal Infantry.¹
