     Acheson Johnston is the son of Sir William Johnston.² He married Mary Hamilton, daughter of Archibald Hamilton and Mary Johnston.¹

     Archibald Hamilton Rowan was born on 12 May 1752.¹ He was the son of Gawin Hamilton and Jane Rowan.² He married Sarah Anne Dawson, daughter of Walter Dawson, on 6 October 1781.¹ He died on 1 November 1834 at age 82.¹
     He was given the name of Archibald Hamilton at birth.¹ He was member of the Society of United Irishmen, and took part in '1798' (known as 'Mr. Rowan' to Wolfe Tone and his colleagues). He was sentenced to death but escaped to the U.S.A. (where he fathered several natural children.)¹

     Sidney Hamilton is the daughter of Gawin Hamilton and Jane Rowan.² She married Benjamin Beresford.¹

     Captain Gawin William Rowan-Hamilton was born in 1783.¹ He was the son of Archibald Hamilton Rowan and Sarah Anne Dawson.² He married Catherine Cockburn, daughter of General Sir George Cockburn, in 1817.¹ He died on 17 August 1834.¹
     He gained the rank of Post-Captain in the Royal Navy.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)¹ He lived at Killyleagh Castle, County Down, Ireland^G.¹

     General Sir George Cockburn was born in 1763 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.² He was the son of George Cockburn and unknown daughter Caldwell.² He died on 18 August 1847 at Shanganah Castle, Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland.²
     He gained the rank of Ensign on 9 May 1781 in the 1st Regiment.² He gained the rank of Captain-Lieutenant in 1784 in the 105th Regiment.² He gained the rank of Captain in March 1790 in the 5th (Royal Irish) Light Dragoons.² He gained the rank of Lieuetenant-Colonel in December 1793 in the 92nd Regiment.² He gained the rank of Major-General in 1803.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in November 1810.² He was appointed Knight Commander, Hanoverian Order (K.C.H.) in 1821.² He gained the rank of General in 1821.² He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Hanoverian Order (G.C.H.) in 1837.²

     Catherine Cockburn is the daughter of General Sir George Cockburn.² She married Captain Gawin William Rowan-Hamilton, son of Archibald Hamilton Rowan and Sarah Anne Dawson, in 1817.¹
     From 1817, her married name became Rowan-Hamilton.
