Robert St. John Cole Bowen was born on 13 August 1830.1 He was the son of Henry Cole Bowen and Eliza Wade Galwey.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Jane Clarke, daughter of Charles Clarke and Sarah Otway Bland, on 3 December 1860.1 He married, secondly, Georgiana Constance Antoinette Mansergh, daughter of Charles Carden Mansergh and Elizabeth Bland, in November 1882.2 He died on 28 July 1888 at age 57.2
