Dominick Browne, 1st Baron Oranmore and Browne was born on 28 May 1787.1 He was the son of Colonel Dominick Geoffrey Browne and Margaret Browne.2 He married Catherine Anne Isabella Monck, daughter of Henry Monck and Lady Elizabeth Araminta Gore, on 5 May 1811.1 He died on 30 January 1860 at age 72.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for County Mayo between 1814 and 1826.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for County Mayo between 1830 and 1836.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of County Mayo between 1834 and 1842.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] on 7 November 1834.1 He rebuilt Castle Macgarrett in Tudor Revival style.1 He was created 1st Baron Oranmore and Browne of Carra Browne Castle in Oranmore, in the county of the town of Galway and of Castle Mac Garrett in the county of Mayo [Ireland] on 4 May 1836.1

Catherine Anne Isabella Monck was the daughter of Henry Monck and Lady Elizabeth Araminta Gore. She married Dominick Browne, 1st Baron Oranmore and Browne, son of Colonel Dominick Geoffrey Browne and Margaret Browne, on 5 May 1811.1 She died on 22 July 1865.1
From 5 May 1811, her married name became Browne. After her marriage, Catherine Anne Isabella Monck was styled as Baroness Oranmore and Browne on 4 May 1836.
