Isabella Erskine, daughter of Henry David Erskine, 10th Earl of Buchan and Agnes Steuart, on 23 April 1785.1 He died on 24 September 1796 at age 46, without issue.1
He was a prolix playwright and patron of the poet Burns.1 He gained the rank of Officer in the 14th Dragoons.1 He was ordained a Church of England parson.1 He succeeded as the 15th Earl of Glencairn [S., 1488] on 30 January 1791.1 He succeeded as the 15th Lord Kilmaurs [S., 1464] on 30 January 1791.1 On his death, his Earldom became dormant.1
