Sir Herbert Stewart was born on 30 June 1843.1 He was the son of Reverend Edward Stewart and Louisa Anne Herbert.3 He married Georgina Janet Stirling, daughter of Admiral Sir James Stirling and Ellen Mangles, on 19 December 1877.1 He died on 16 February 1885 at age 41 at EgyptG, killed in action.1
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Victoria.1 He fought in the Battle of Metammeh on 16 February 1885.1 He had another son who died young.1

     Georgina Janet Stirling was born in 1845.2 She was the daughter of Admiral Sir James Stirling and Ellen Mangles.1,2 She married, firstly, Maj.-Gen. Sir Henry Tombs, V.C., son of John Tombs, on 24 June 1869.2 She married, secondly, Maj.-Gen. Sir Herbert Stewart, son of Reverend Edward Stewart and Louisa Anne Herbert, on 19 December 1877.1 She died on 4 April 1910.1
     From 24 June 1869, her married name became Tombs.1 From 19 December 1877, her married name became Stewart.
