     Catherine Apsley was baptised on 6 July 1688 at St. James's, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Peter Apsley and Catherine Fortrey.¹ She married Allen Bathurst, 1st Earl Bathurst of Bathurst, son of Sir Benjamin Bathurst and Frances Apsley, on 6 July 1704.¹ She died on 8 June 1768 at age 79.¹ She was buried on 16 June 1768 at Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹
     Her married name became Bathurst. After her marriage, Catherine Apsley was styled as Baroness Bathurst of Battlesden on 1 January 1711/12.

     Henry Bathurst, 2nd Earl Bathurst of Bathurst was born on 20 May 1714 at St. James's, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of Allen Bathurst, 1st Earl Bathurst of Bathurst and Catherine Apsley.¹ He married, firstly, Anne James on 19 September 1754.² He married, secondly, Tryphena Scawen, daughter of Thomas Scawen and Tryphena Russell, on 14 June 1759 at Maidwell, Northamptonshire, England^G.² He died on 6 August 1794 at age 80 at Oakley Grove, Gloucestershire, England^G.² He was buried at Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England^G.²
     He matriculated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 14 May 1730.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Cirencester between 1735 and 1754.¹ He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1736 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.¹ He was appointed King's Counsel (K.C.) in 1746.¹ He held the office of Solicitor-General between 1746 and 1748, to the Prince of Wales.¹ He held the office of Attorney-General between 1748 and 1751, to the Prince of Wales.¹ He held the office of Attorney-General between 1751 and 1754, to the Dowager Princess of Wales.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Court of Common Pleas between 2 May 1754 and 23 January 1771.¹ He held the office of Second Commissioner of the Great Seal between 21 January 1770 and 3 June 1778.¹ Between 1771 and 1778 Apsley House, Hyde Park Corner, was built for him by the Adam brothers, and sold in 1810 to the Wellesley family.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 21 January 1771.¹ He held the office of Lord Chancellor between 23 January 1771 and 1778.¹ He was created 1st Lord Apsley, Baron of Apsley, Sussex [Great Britain] on 24 January 1771.² However "the profession was greatly surprised on finding Judge Bathurst, who was considered the most incapable of the three Commissioners, selected" as Lord Chancellor.² He succeeded as the 2nd Earl Bathurst of Bathurst, Sussex [G.B., 1772] on 16 September 1775.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Bathurst of Battlesden, co. Bedford [G.B., 1712] on 16 September 1775.¹ He held the office of Lord President of the Council between 1779 and 1782.³ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.⁴
     

     Tryphena Scawen was born on 31 December 1730.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Scawen and Tryphena Russell.¹ She married Henry Bathurst, 2nd Earl Bathurst of Bathurst, son of Allen Bathurst, 1st Earl Bathurst of Bathurst and Catherine Apsley, on 14 June 1759 at Maidwell, Northamptonshire, England^G.¹ She died on 2 December 1807 at age 76 at Abbs Court, Surrey, England^G.¹ She was buried at Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹
     Her married name became Bathurst. After her marriage, Tryphena Scawen was styled as Baroness of Apsley on 24 January 1771. After her marriage, Tryphena Scawen was styled as Countess Bathurst of Bathurst on 16 September 1775.

     Thomas Scawen married Tryphena Russell, daughter of Lord James Russell and Elizabeth Lloyd.
     He lived at Maidwell, Northamptonshire, England^G.¹

     Anne James married, firstly, Charles Phillipps before 1754.¹ She married, secondly, Henry Bathurst, 2nd Earl Bathurst of Bathurst, son of Allen Bathurst, 1st Earl Bathurst of Bathurst and Catherine Apsley, on 19 September 1754.¹ She died on 4 February 1758, without issue.²
     From before 1754, her married name became Phillipps.¹ Her married name became Bathurst.

     Lady Georgina Lennox was born on 6 December 1765 at Goodwood, Sussex, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Lord George Henry Lennox and Lady Louisa Kerr.¹ She married Henry Bathurst, 3rd Earl Bathurst of Bathurst, son of Henry Bathurst, 2nd Earl Bathurst of Bathurst and Tryphena Scawen, on 1 April 1789.¹ She died on 20 January 1841 at age 75 at Charles Street, Berkeley Square, London, England^G.¹ She was buried on 22 January 1841 at Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹
     Her married name became Bathurst.

     Lady Maria Louisa Lennox was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Lord George Henry Lennox and Lady Louisa Kerr.¹ She died in July 1843.¹
