     He gained the title of 3rd Baronet Hume, of co. Fermanagh. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Castle Hume, County Fermanagh.²

     Edward Loftus, 2nd Viscount Loftus of Ely was born circa 1598.¹ He was the son of Adam Loftus, 1st Viscount Loftus of Ely and Sarah Bathow.² He married Jane Lindley, daughter of Arthur Lindley, on 28 February 1635.¹ He died on 11 April 1680.¹
     He was appointed Knight in January 1622/23.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Loftus of Ely, King's Co. [I., 1622] in 1643.¹
