     John Sommers Cocks, 1st Earl Sommers was born on 6 May 1760.² He was the son of Charles Cocks, 1st Lord Sommers, Baron of Evesham and Elizabeth Eliot.² He married, firstly, Margaret Nash, daughter of Reverend Treadway Russell Nash, on 19 March 1785.² He married, secondly, Jane Cocks, daughter of James Cocks and Martha Watson, on 3 June 1834.¹ He died on 5 January 1841 at age 80.¹
     He was educated in 1774 at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England^G.² He was educated in 1778 at St. Alban's Hall, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for West Looe between 1782 and 1784.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for West Grampound between 1784 and 1790.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for West Reigate between 1790 and 1806.² He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Cocks, of Evesham, co. Worcester [G.B., 1772] on 30 January 1806.² He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Sommers, Baron of Evesham, co. Worcester [G.B., 1784] on 30 January 1806.² He held the office of Recorder of Gloucester in 1811.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire between 1817 and 1841.² He was created 1st Earl Sommers [U.K.] on 17 July 1821.² He was created 1st Viscount Eastnor, of Eastnor Castle, co. Hereford [U.K.] on 17 July 1821.² He held the office of High Steward of Hereford.¹

     Margaret Nash was the daughter of Reverend Treadway Russell Nash.² She married John Sommers Cocks, 1st Earl Sommers, son of Charles Cocks, 1st Lord Sommers, Baron of Evesham and Elizabeth Eliot, on 19 March 1785.¹ She died on 9 February 1831.¹
     Her married name became Cocks. After her marriage, Margaret Nash was styled as Countess Sommers on 17 July 1821.

     Reverend Treadway Russell Nash was born on 24 June 1725.² He died in 1811.²
     He was educated at Worcester College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.² He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)¹ He wrote the book Collections for the History of Worcestershire, published between 1781 and 1782.²

     John Cocks was the son of Charles Cocks and Mary Somers.² He married Mary Cocks, daughter of Reverend Thomas Cocks, on 3 September 1724.¹ He died on 24 June 1771.¹
     He lived at Castleditch, Herefordshire, England^G.¹

     James Cocks was born on 22 June 1734.² He was the son of John Cocks and Mary Cocks.² He married Martha Watson, daughter of Rear-Admiral Charles Watson, on 5 November 1772.²

     Martha Watson is the daughter of Rear-Admiral Charles Watson.² She married James Cocks, son of John Cocks and Mary Cocks, on 5 November 1772.¹
     Her married name became Cocks.

     Alexander Montagu Baring was born on 10 November 1828.¹ He was the son of William Bingham Baring, 2nd Baron Ashburton and Lady Harriet Mary Montagu.¹ He died on 5 February 1830 at age 1.¹

     Jane Cocks was the daughter of James Cocks and Martha Watson. She married, firstly, Reverend George Waddington before 1834.¹ She married, secondly, John Sommers Cocks, 1st Earl Sommers, son of Charles Cocks, 1st Lord Sommers, Baron of Evesham and Elizabeth Eliot, on 3 June 1834.¹ She died on 3 November 1868.¹
     From before 1834, her married name became Waddington.¹ From 3 June 1834, her married name became Cocks. After her marriage, Jane Cocks was styled as Countess Sommers on 3 June 1834.

     Hon. Denzil Hugh Baring was born in 1837.¹ He was the son of Francis Baring, 3rd Baron Ashburton and Hortense Eugenie Claire Maret.¹ He died on 26 May 1886 at Nice, France^G.¹

     Edward Charles Cocks was the son of Charles Cocks, 1st Lord Sommers, Baron of Evesham and Elizabeth Eliot.² He died in 1781 at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England^G, drowned.
     He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England^G.¹
