     Sir William Cusack-Smith, 2nd Bt. was born on 23 January 1766.2 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Michael Smith, 1st Bt. and Mary Anne Cusack.2 He married Hester Berry, daughter of Thomas Berry, on 13 August 1787.2 He died on 21 August 1836 at age 70.2
     He was given the name of William Smith at birth.2 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He graduated from Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lanesborough between 1794 and 1797.2 In 1798 his name was legally changed to William Cusack-Smith by Royal Licence.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)2 He held the office of Solicitor-General from 1800 to 1801.2 He held the office of Baron of the Court of the Exchequer in Ireland between 1801 and 1836.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Smith, of Newton, King's County [I., 1799] on 17 December 1808.2

     He gained the rank of Captain in the 12th Lancers.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Cork.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire.1 He held the office of sometime Admiral, Royal Cork Yacht Club.1 He lived at Ballyedmond, Midleton, County Cork, IrelandG, in which he succeeded his uncle John Courtenay.1
