John Allen Kingsmill was born in 1793 at Borris-in-Ossory, County Laois, IrelandG.1 He was the son of Henry Kingsmill and Mary Allen.1 He married, firstly, Mary Johnston on 8 August 1825 at St. Phillips Church of England, Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaG.1 He married, secondly, Ann Driscoll in 1829 at St.James Church of England, Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaG.1 He died on 7 July 1869 at Lawes Street, East Maitland, New South Wales, AustraliaG.1 He was buried at Old Glebe Cemetery, East Maitland, New South Wales, AustraliaG.1
He was Sergeant with the Royal Irish Constabulary circa 1823.1 On 12 August 1823 he lead a team of police who were involved in a fight with a public house patron, a Richard McDaniel, who was mortally wounded.1 On 25 March 1824 he was found guilty of manslaughter, and sentenced to be transported for life.1 He emigrated to Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaG, arriving on 22 February 1825 transported 'for life' aboard Asia I.1 He was a school master in 1826 at Carters Barracks, Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaG.1 On 26 October 1827 he received a conditional pardon.1 He was Commissioner for the Road Trust in 1854 at Maitland, New South Wales, AustraliaG.1 He was member of the District Council in 1855 at Maitland, New South Wales, AustraliaG.1
