Major Anthony Guy Atkinson was born on 10 December 1909 at Cangort, County Offaly, Ireland.1,2 He was the son of Guy Hamilton Atkinson and Sybilla Gertrude Homan.3 He married Anne Elizabeth Lascelles-Ward, daughter of Reverend Nevill Lascelles-Ward, on 16 October 1937.1 He died on 15 March 1985 at age 75.2
He was educated at St. Columba'sG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War at Hong Kong, ChinaG, where he was mentioned in despatches, and became a Japanese prisoner of war between 1941 and 1945.1 He retired from the military in 1952, with the rank of Major, late of the Royal Artillery.1 He lived at Cangort, Shinrone, Birr, County Offaly, IrelandG.1 He lived at Loughton, Moneygall, Birr, County Offaly, IrelandG, which he had made over to his son.1
