     Lieutenant William D'Arcy was born in 1780 at Gorteen, County Mayo, Ireland^G.¹ He was the son of Francis D'Arcy and Lucy Knox.¹ He married Mary Bartlett on 18 January 1810 at Modbury, Devon, England^G.¹ He died on 6 August 1842.¹ He was buried at Gravesend, Kent, England^G.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 13th Light Dragoons.¹
